WTO accession to boost Russia's energy efficiency

In mid-December 2011, World Trade Organization (WTO) ministers adopted Russia's terms of entry. As part of the accession accord, Russia has agreed to undertake a series of commitments. The deal offers a transparent and predictable environment for trade and foreign investment. It would give a boost to investments in improving energy efficiency that is of strategic importance for the modernization of Russia's economy.
